Proud to Partner: World Thrombosis Day on 13 October
ETHA is proud to partner with World Thrombosis Day and more than 2,000 organizations across 100 countries in a united effort to reduce death and disability from thrombosis – the underlying cause of the world’s top three cardiovascular killers: heart attack, stroke and venous thromboembolism (VTE). VTE is a life-threatening but preventable condition that affects millions of people worldwide.
Observed on 13 October, World Thrombosis Day (WTD) is an annual event led by the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) and carried out by hundreds of organizations worldwide. The focus for WTD 2015 is VTE and increased risk due to hospitalization. Up to 60 percent of all VTEs occur during or after hospitalization and VTE is the leading preventable cause of hospital death.
